When we think “working dog”, it’s usually a German Shepherd police dog or a Labrador Retriever seeing-eye dog that comes to mind. But Lucy the Yorkshire Terrier sets a new standard for working dog. In fact, she has set the world record as being the world’s smallest working dog!
At just 5.7inches high, this 2.5 pound ball of fur is a certified therapy dog who works with the elderly and disabled. Lucy works with a program called Leashes of Love in Smithville, New Jersey and makes regular visits to hospitals, nursing homes, and schools.
Lucy beat the previous record holder who was a search and rescue dog in Japan, weighing 6 pounds.
